Seeing as how I've written a few stories in the world of Exalted, and I probably will continue, I think some explanation is in order for those of you that don't know what Exalted is.
Exalted is a tabletop role-playing game, in the same vein as Dungeons and Dragons, or Vampire: The Masquerade. It is published by White Wolf Publishing.
In this world, some people are chosen by the gods to be their champions, thus "Exalted" above mortal men. Joshua is one such, chosen by the Unconquered Sun. For this he became a Solar Exalted. He was also exalted into the Night Caste, which gives him preternatural ability and skill in the matters of stealth, acrobatics, and general espionage. Because of this, and with a few complementary charms (magical augmentations of natural skills), he can disguise himself as anyone, with almost no chance of detection.
Arilith, from another few stories, is also an Exalt, albeit a different type. She was exalted into a Terrestrial Exalted, better known as a Dragon-Blood. The Dragon-Blooded are called such because they are the champions of the 5 Elemental Dragons, one for each element (Air, Water, Fire, Wood, and Earth). Because of this she is Air-Aspected Dragon-Blood.
Now Dragon-Bloods are pretty much a closely-knit group, since their exaltation runs through the blood. That is, their powers are to a certain extent hereditary. But Arilith doesn't particularly like her family, for reasons that will be exposed as I write some more, but that should be evident in what I've written so far.
